Serving with Love

How it is done?

We can only do this because of God & the connections he has knitted together. We base our ministry on two scriptures:

Jeremiah 17:7-8:

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

This is what we believe God will allow us to be. Never ceasing to yield fruit. Always standing tall no matter what is going on in this world. Roots connected to Him so we never wither & roots that connect with others to pay it forward & help others be that tree.

Matthew 25:35-36

“for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”

This is how we see others. The Me in this is our neighbors even the ones in the street with out a home at the moment. It’s the drug addicts stuck in their addictions. It’s the cancer patient who is displaced and you get to laugh, hug & smile with them. It’s the single mom struggling who tries to stay brave & not let her kids see her break. I was taught & it’s what I teach my own children & grand children… You never know when you are entertaining an angel of God.

So God being who He is brought along a few people who have a passion to serve but to serve a population that many overlook & misjudge. Through the various partnerships our ministry, Healing Touches Outreach, which is made up at this moment of myself & my children, are given provisions mainly food & at times clothes & shoes to distribute to those in need. What we don’t have we use our own personal funds to get.

Where is it done?

At this time our intentional focus is upon a tent city that we have unofficially adopted as well as families struggling with food insecurity.

When is it done?

Each week on Thursday evening we go out to the tent city & bring a hot meal, beverages, snacks, music & hope. We get to share a bit of life with them & not only do they appreciate it but we are grateful to be able to do it.

Why the Evening?

Because some are just getting out of “work” & are trying to figure out where they will get their next meal. That’s where we come along & they know they can count on us.

What about the families struggling with food insecurities?

I, the founder, personally open up my home to people in my neighborhood, Tymber Skan, to help stand in the gap of their food needs. We, my children & I, also assist with 2 of our local displaced who malinger around here harmlessly. I personally am part of 2 Facebook groups that primarily have single moms in it struggling. You read these multitude of stories & my heart aches for them. I allow God to highlight who to reach out to & come in the gap. Most post anonymously as they are embarrassed to ask but I ask them to private message me & we help. At times they come to me to get provisions & at times I have to drive to them as they have no transportation or money to get on public transportation. I don’t ask for lengthy stories or reasons - though they share how they got to this point- I just pack a care package & we go deliver.

What is needed?

As we continue as a society being burdened with ever growing price increases in rent, food, etc we will see a rise on our displaced community as well as families facing food insecurities. Intentionally the focus is upon the groups I mentioned above because we wish to steward well what God has given to us to serve. But we know the explosion is here & we will be getting more & more needing assistance. So what is needed:

  1. More people willing to go out & distribute & do a glimpse of life with them.

  2. More donations of food, clothes, shoes, blankets, tents, hygiene items, etc.

  3. Funding to keep doing what we do.

How can you get involved?

  1. Want to go from the seats to the streets? Then we invite you to come on out with us.

  2. Not too sure if you want to be actually THERE serving? I get it. It can be scary for some. So maybe you can cook a hot meal for 50 people helping alleviate that area. Or you donate the groceries that will be used to cook the meal. Maybe donate some clothes, shoes, blankets, hygiene items. Or you simply donate financially to the ministry to assist with the financial burdens.

  3. Maybe you have an area that you wish to serve? Then contact me let’s see how we can help you help others in your community.

CHOICES….

The choices are vast on how you can get involved but there are choices & they are YOURS to make.

Hope to connect with you & be knitted by God to be his net & love.

  • Love On Them

Don’t judge they judge themselves. Be a light in a place surrounded in darkness, desperation, despair & hopelessness. Bring hope, bring a smile, bring kindness, bring LOVE!

  • See & Hear Them

See & acknowledge they exist. Listen to them for they have some great experiences to share. Be in the moment with them & help provide solutions not condemnation.

  • Serve Them

Every Thursday we go out with a hot meal, beverages, snacks & a smile wrapped all in love. At times we go out again with clothes, shoes, more food & blankets.
